BellSouth, which serves local, long distance, Internet and wireless customers in the United States, has announced that their portal page will now feature Google-powered searches. In addition to search capabilities, Google will also make targeted advertisements through its AdSense/AdWords program available to BellSouth users.
The two companies agreed to a multi-year deal. Tim Hill, director of Portal Services for BellSouth, said, "BellSouth initiated a lengthy and rigorous evaluation in determining which search provider offers the best user experience for our customers. Google's technologically advanced search capabilities and targeted ads on the BellSouth portal represent a win for both our Internet subscribers and BellSouth."
Joan Braddi, vice president of Search Services for Google, had this to say of the partnership, "The addition of BellSouth, a leading domestic ISP, to Google's growing network of partners demonstrates the continued value we provide to ISPs through a broad set of innovative products that drive subscriber loyalty and profitability."
