Joining Yahoo In Search Marketing Alliance

By John Stith

Anyone who's been following the SES knows that search marketing is a tough business because marketing can be tough enough on its own, but when you add competitors from all over the world it gets tougher. Yahoo's taking a shot at a Search Marketing Alliance Program to help people navigate their way through the world of SEM.

Are you tough enough for search engine marketing? Show us your strength at WebproWorld.

Yahoo's blog sent out the information on Thursday and it's pretty significant info. Their program allows webmasters to tag team with Yahoo in this program. Dan Boberg, Senior Direct, Strategic Alliances said, "You can go to Yahoo! Search Marketing to review the Marketing Alliances program and decide if you want to manage or refer your client's sponsored search accounts. Once you make that determination, sign up with the appropriate track to get access to online training materials, then study our products and services and take a certification test that once you pass qualifies you to participate in the program."

Then, you get started with all the tools and stuff they provide and they'll even give you a logo to put on your site with some marketing materials specifically for you. They will give you credits and commissions dependent upon your participation.

"We're very excited to introduce this program and think it will offer agencies, search engine marketers (SEMs) and Web professionals even greater opportunity to earn money and enhance their own client services."

This looks like it will be an interesting program, particularly for smaller companies and those with very little experience dealing with search marketing. It will be interesting see how successful they will be with this program and if other search engines will follow.
